Chrysalis EP available NOW on all major digital outlets and streams.
The Chrysalis, or “the pupa stage, is one of the coolest stages of a butterfly’s life. As soon as a caterpillar is done growing and they have reached their full length/weight, they form themselves into a pupa, also known as a chrysalis. From the outside of the pupa, it looks as if the caterpillar may just be resting, but the inside is where all of the action is. Inside of the pupa, the caterpillar is rapidly changing. Within the chrysalis the old body parts of the caterpillar are undergoing a remarkable transformation, called ‘metamorphosis,’ to become the beautiful parts that make up the butterfly that will emerge.”

"Whether it's Jazz, R&B, Soul, Pop, or Opera, when D'Monet sings, we all listen with eagerness to hear what melodic tones will enter the waves through her voice. There is none like her and there will never be."
- Dr. Calvin Bonds - Two Time Grammy Listed Songwriter and Public Relations Specialist for three Oscar winning short films
"I had the pleasure of working with D'Monet here in Des Moines. Iowa was starving for a great R&B vocalist back then and it was so easy to get people to come see her because as soon as she opened her mouth, you had no choice but to listen."
- Robert Canada - Event Producer for Fresh Breath Entertainment
"I've recorded at least 100 voices in my career as a producer, and I have not met anyone who can arrange vocals like D'Monet. She is a 'mad scientist' with this music."
- Brandon Hunt - Producer for Spacehood Music Group
How an artist starts a journey can say a lot about their destination; belting out melodies from the womb is a divine beginning. Having received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Vocal Music Performance at LeMoyne Owen College, along with studying under some of opera's greatest powerhouses such as Grace Bumbry, Vera Little, even abroad in Pisa, Italy under world renowned Pilralba Sorga, the classically trained voice known as D'Monet cannot be defined as a Jazz, Rhythm and Blues or a Pop singer…but she has redefined the meaning of the traditional soul artist in what she calls "Alkaline Music" (music that heals).
D’Monet allows you to travel on contorted twists of loves' successes and failures; all while exercising her massive vocal prowess to the center stage. Nurturing her vocal gifts from the tender age of 4 along with developing her ear for the piano by 7, she now is a seasoned veteran. D’Monet has shared her soul from New York to Los Angeles, but it’s only natural she makes Memphis, Tennessee the home of her “Futuristic Soul.”
As D’Monet inspires those within her artistic circle, she soaks inspiration from classic triple threat artists such as: Anita Baker, Oleta Adams, Rachelle Ferrell, Celine Dion, Luther Vandross, Stevie Wonder and Lalah Hathaway. D’Monet has a gift for building bridges between a song and her audience crossing cultural and musical genres. This elegant songstress approaches each note with a sophisticated passion, which leaves the listener addicted but never needing, however, wanting more. D’Monet's recordings can only be matched by her live performances in various venues around Memphis,TN. She has been featured on numerous stages and sets and her sound has allowed her to branch out across several genres. She was honored to perform as the special guest for Black Enterprise’s Women of Power Summit in 2012. Having shared the stage with Soul Crooner Eric Roberson, and also having a brief stint as a background singer for Blackstreet’s Dave Hollister, D’Monet has become a musical mainstay, particularly in the city of Memphis. In 2011, D’Monet was featured on Markevius Faulkner‘s hit single ‘Day One’, which received major radio airplay on WHAL-FM’S 95.7 Hallelujah FM. In the wake of Day One’s success, D’Monet released her debut single, Oooh Baby (Got Your Back)!
In 2013, D’Monet uprooted herself from her hometown and moved to Des Moines, IA, where she unexpectedly became the Assistant Minister of Music and Vocal Director at a local church, the front woman and keyboard player for two funk/soul bands R.S.V.P. and The Tighten Up band, and also made two appearances on KCWI’s “Great Day” Morning Show performing her original music. After returning to Memphis a few years later, she began releasing more original music.
It would seem as if D’Monet’s hometown was awaiting her return. The relaunching of her musical career began when she performed a riveting SOLD OUT show of The Music of Nancy Wilson at the Crosstown Concourse (presented by Strictly Jazz Entertainment). After that, she began performing at private events, and volunteering some of her time performing at local retirement homes. Giving back to the community eventually earned her a nomination and feature for Black Music Month, sponsored by Ampro Pro Styl (Ampro Industries, Inc.) which was aired on WREG News Channel 3 every day for the whole month of June. She was a featured guest on Action News 5’s “Bluff City Weekend” with Janeen Gordon, discussing her upcoming single “Dry,” which was released on February 28, 2019, and is currently in rotation on 88.5 Voice of SCS, a local Radio Station in Memphis, TN.
Her next single “Trauma” soon followed on May 31, 2019, which talks about a physical assault that left her traumatized for a long time. On September 6, 2019, D’Monet released her Chrysalis EP, which signifies the evolution of her life and her music. Her long awaited dream to perform all of her original music was granted on December 21, 2020 for yet again another SOLD OUT show at the Crosstown Arts Green Room. It was there that she captivated her audience with her own personal stories and her introduction to what she calls Alkaline Music (Music that heals). D’Monet continues to share her musical gifts in many ways including vocal coaching for people as young as 5 years old and up. She is currently working on a live album and live DVD for her Alkaline Music. D’Monet has only scratched the surface of what her musical journey beholds…
